Power Point Installation Services

Whether you’re adding power points as part of a renovation, fitting out a new build, or simply need more outlets in the right places, Saunders Electrical Group carries out power point installations across the Hills District and Hawkesbury correctly and efficiently.

Single and Double Power Point Installation

Standard GPO installation in living areas, bedrooms, kitchens, garages, and all areas of the home. All new power point installations are issued with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) as required by NSW law. From $120 + GST per point.

USB Power Points

Dual USB-A, USB-C, and combination USB/GPO outlets for bedrooms, home offices, and kitchens. Replaces a standard GPO and charges devices directly without an adaptor — increasingly popular in Hills District homes being renovated or updated.

Outdoor and Weatherproof Power Points

IP-rated weatherproof power points for outdoor entertaining areas, gardens, driveways, pool surrounds, and external walls. All outdoor power points are installed with appropriate protection and tested before we leave. From $160 + GST per point.

Garage and Workshop Power Points

Single and double GPOs, 15A power points for workshop equipment, and dedicated circuits for larger loads including air compressors, welders, and machinery. From $120 + GST per point for standard GPOs, from $180 + GST for 15A outlets.

Home Office Power Points

Additional circuits and power points for home offices, media rooms, and study areas with high electrical demand. Many Hills District homes have converted rooms to home offices — we assess the existing circuit load and add points correctly without overloading existing circuits.

Renovation Power Points

New power point installation as part of kitchen, bathroom, and living area renovations. We coordinate with your builder or project manager and issue a CCEW on completion of the electrical scope. From $120 + GST per point.

15A Power Points

Heavy-duty 15A outlets for air conditioning units, pool equipment, and workshop machinery requiring higher current capacity than a standard 10A GPO. From $180 + GST per point.

Power Point Relocation

Moving an existing power point to suit a renovation or furniture change. Cabling extended correctly and existing circuit load assessed before any work begins. From $160 + GST per point.

New Build Electrical Fit-Out

Full power point installation for new residential builds, from rough-in through to fit-off, including coordination with your builder throughout the project. All work issued with a final CCEW on completion.

Do I Need a Licensed Electrician to Install a Power Point in NSW?

Yes — in NSW, power point installation is prescribed electrical work that must be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor. This applies whether you’re installing a new point, adding to an existing circuit, or relocating an existing outlet.

The installation involves connecting wiring to your home’s electrical circuits. Under NSW Fair Trading regulations, any work involving electrical connections inside the walls, ceiling, or switchboard of a building must be performed by a holder of a current NSW Electrical Contractor Licence. The completed work must be issued with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW).

Attempting to self-install a power point — or having a handyman or unlicensed person do it — is illegal in NSW, voids your home insurance, and creates ongoing safety risk. Incorrectly wired power points can cause electric shock, overloaded circuits, and electrical fires.

There are additional practical reasons to use a licensed electrician:

Circuit load assessment. Every circuit in your home has a maximum load capacity. Adding power points to an existing circuit without assessing the current load can result in nuisance tripping, overloaded circuits, and in worst cases, overheating and fire risk. A licensed electrician assesses the existing circuit before any work begins and determines whether a new circuit is required.

Correct cable routing. Cabling must be run correctly — protected where required, at the correct depth in walls, and terminated to Australian standards. Incorrectly run cabling creates ongoing safety risks that may not be immediately apparent.

Certificate of Compliance. Every power point installation carried out by Saunders Electrical Group is issued with a CCEW. This is a legal requirement in NSW and provides you with a permanent record that the work was carried out to the required standard — important for insurance purposes and when you sell the property.

Saunders Electrical Group holds NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 344815C. We issue a CCEW on every power point installation.
